The UK Battery Industrialisation Centre (UKBC) has launched a brand-new graduate programme for those seeking entry to the fast-growing UK battery sector.
UKBIC, the Coventry-based national battery manufacturing development facility, has opportunities in
- Commercial – Finance, Procurement, HR, Business Development, PR & Marketing
- Manufacturing Engineering / Operations
- Technology / Research and Development
The programme will last for two years with each role or project rotation every three to six months.
During each rotation, graduates will get to work with senior and experienced colleagues from the battery sector, either working for UKBIC, its customers or suppliers.
The Manufacturing and Technology/R&D schemes are for individuals who have completed an under – or postgraduate STEM qualification in an industry relevant subject. Meanwhile, the Commercial scheme is for individuals who have completed an under – or postgraduate qualification in subjects related or relevant to the rotations the programme offers.
Ciaran Price, Talent Acquisition Specialist at UKBIC, said: “We’re hugely excited to launch our new graduate programme here at UKBIC, the only national battery manufacturing development facility of its kind in the UK.
“Our graduate programme is a great opportunity to get your foot in the door of this exciting, fast-growing industry, which according to the Faraday Institution predicts, that by 2040, could employ in the UK upwards of 270,000 people in electric vehicle manufacturing, gigafactories and the battery supply chain.”
UKBIC, which was officially opened by the Prime Minister in July 2021, provides UK battery manufacturing scale-up and skills for the battery sector, and is used by organisations working on batteries for applications including electric vehicles, rail, aerospace, industrial and domestic equipment and static energy storage.

Notes to editor:
The £130 million UK Battery Industrialisation Centre (UKBIC) battery manufacturing development centre was opened by the Prime Minister in July 2021. The unique national facility provides the missing link between battery technology, which has proved promising at laboratory or prototype scale, and successful mass production. Based in Coventry, UKBIC welcomes manufacturers, entrepreneurs, researchers and educators, and can be accessed by any organisation with existing or new battery technology – if that technology brings green jobs and prosperity to the UK.
In addition to funding from the Faraday Battery Challenge through UK Research and Innovation, UKBIC is part-funded through the West Midlands Combined Authority. The facility was delivered through a consortium of Coventry City Council, Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership and WMG, at the University of Warwick, following a competition in 2018 led by the Advanced Propulsion Centre with support from Innovate UK.
UKBIC is part of the UK Government’s Faraday Battery Challenge, a co-ordinated national programme to enable UK companies to research, develop, and commercialise cost-effective, high-performance, durable, safe, low-weight and recyclable batteries.
